Black Snow Season 3: Are We Getting Another Season?

“Black Snow” is a show where Detective James Cormack solves old, cold-case mysteries in the beautiful but sometimes dark setting of Queensland, Australia. On top of the mysteries, Cormack’s also trying to find his missing brother, which adds a lot of heart to the story.

After the crazy ending of the second season, where Cormack’s personal life took a huge turn, everyone’s wondering what’s next in season three. Will he finally find his brother? What new secrets will the Queensland sun uncover?

What Really Went Down In The Previous Season?

The “Black Snow” season 2 finale saw Detective James Cormack focusing on a phone call while Samara Kahlil checked parliamentary records for Julie. James confronted Julie about her son and Zoe’s party, suspecting lies. Flashbacks revealed tensions at Zoe’s party, including her discovery of Gita’s affair with Leo and a fight. In the present, Sam informed James that Julie wasn’t in Canberra, but Leo was. James suspected Leo and Will were lying.

Confronting Leo, James learned about his affair cover-up and annual calls to Sam. Leo claimed Will attended the Canberra conference for him. A flashback showed Zoe leaving the party upset and buying supplies before getting gas and driving away. Sam found Will, who confessed to accidentally running Zoe over and then staging her disappearance. James arrived as Will almost shot himself.

Later, James quit his job and therapy to find his brother Ritchie. He found clues leading him to Ritchie, who was in trouble with thugs over gambling debts. James got the money and met Ritchie’s girlfriend, Jade.

Finally locating Ritchie, James tried to reconcile, but Ritchie was still traumatized by their childhood. Just as they spoke, police arrived and arrested Ritchie for an unrelated murder, leaving James distraught.

Are We Getting A Season 3?

Well, they haven’t officially said “go” for a Season 3 yet. But, if they keep doing what they’ve been doing (releasing a season each year), we might just see more snow and mysteries around January 2026.

They filmed Season 2 in the middle of 2024, so if the cameras start rolling again soon, that timeline could hold up. Of course, you know how these things go – if they take their sweet time deciding or filming hits a snag, we might be waiting until mid-2026, but we have our fingers crossed for some exciting official news.

What To Expect From Season 3 If It Happens?

You can probably count on Detective James Cormack getting tangled up in another old mystery, something that’s been cold for ages but is about to get a whole lot warmer in the Queensland sun. They’ve done it twice, so a third time will be no surprise to us, right? Maybe this time it’ll even touch on some of Queensland’s interesting history,

But it’s not just about the puzzles, is it? We’ve been following Cormack’s own story, trying to find his missing brother. Season 3 might be the one where we finally get some closure on that, good or bad.

Or, you know, they might just keep twisting the knife and make it even more complicated. Either way, expect another head-scratching case mixed with some personal drama for our main guy, all set in that beautiful Australian scenery.
