WondLa Season 2 Review: A Delightfully Weird Journey Back to Orbona

Season 2 of WondLa on Apple TV+ takes us back to this super imaginative and kind of crazy planet called Orbona. This season really digs deeper into all the cool places, funny characters, and exciting adventures that make this world so special. Get ready to be hooked by how charming and surprising Orbona can be!

A World Revisited: Diving Back into Orbona

The first season showed us a curious teenage girl, Eva Nine, living in an underground bunker. Then she finds out that the world above isn’t what she learned about in her books. Season 2 doesn’t just keep going from there – it jumps right into this wild, colorful, and mysterious place with some big questions.

Eva Nine (who is still a really sweet and determined kid) keeps trying to figure out what happened to humans. At the same time, she’s trying to find her place in this mix of alien cultures.

She’s still got her awesome team with her: Muthr, the robot who takes care of her a lot but needs to chill out a bit; Otto, the giant water bear who acts like a pet but also like a wise old teacher; and Rovender Kitt, who’s like an alien uncle with a deep voice and a sad story.

The Heart of the Story: Eva’s Journey of Growth

This season, the story gets bigger. Eva and her friends travel through huge cities floating in the sky, forests that glow, and old, falling-down places that make you think humans didn’t have such a great past.

We learn more about this world, there’s more fighting between the different alien groups who now live on Earth (oops, I mean Orbona), and there are some interesting ideas about what it even means to be “human” when humans aren’t really in charge anymore.

But the best thing about WondLa Season 2 is how it feels. The show isn’t trying too hard to be super silly or super serious – it finds this fun, slightly weird middle ground, like a Saturday morning cartoon that also makes you think a little.

The talking is quick but not mean. The way it looks is really cool, but not too fancy. You get action scenes, funny alien misunderstandings, and just enough quiet moments to make you think about some bigger stuff.

The characters are still the best part of the show. Eva grows up a bit this season – not in a big, “suddenly she’s a hero” way, but in the small things she does, like standing up to Muthr when she’s being too much, choosing to talk things out instead of running away, or even just knowing when to be quiet.

She’s a main character who makes mistakes, asks dumb questions sometimes, and might even forget to eat because she’s arguing with an alien that looks like a cactus. And you want her to succeed, not because she’s supposed to save the world, but because she’s really trying hard to understand it.

Is It Worth A Watch?

Now, Season 2 is not all rainbows and fun, some new characters show up looking important and then just disappear, like they had another show to be in. Some episodes tell you a lot about Orbona’s history, as if you already know all about it. And the story sometimes feels like it’s wandering around a bit, especially in the middle, kind of like when the characters get lost in a maze that feels like it’s about how confused Eva is inside.

Still, even the slower parts look so creative and fun. The places they go to are always surprising. Whether it’s cities that seem to breathe or a desert where the sand actually sings (yes, really!), the people who designed this show deserve a big thank you!

By the end of the season, we learn some things about why humans disappeared, we have more questions about what will happen next, and – thankfully – there are hints that there might be a third season.

We think that season 3 might be more about fighting back, starting over, and figuring out who you are.

Conclusion

WondLa Season 2 isn’t flawless. It tries to do a lot sometimes, gets too caught up in its own world’s details, and forgets that we don’t need a long explanation for every weird alien word. But it’s sincere, imaginative, and not afraid to be a little strange. It is worth a watch if you are looking for something fun and imaginative!
